DHS student, Samantha Veenstra is working hard to provide awareness for drunk driving by hosting activities before the Christmas break.
She is working on a HOSA event over drunk driving. Other people she is working with on the HOSA event are Katie Garlington, Dax Chapman, and Alec Hamill.
“My HOSA event is over drunk driving due to the fact that I was in a drunk driving car accident. Our goal is to bring awareness to the community and to prevent another accident,” Veenstra said.
In honor of drunk driving awareness week, they are hosting activities all week during all of the lunches. One of the activities they are doing is a drunk driving course. There will also be a run held in February where you can “run with Samantha”.
Samantha is going to give a presentation over drunk driving and her car accident and how it has affected her.“Rather than just saying ‘don’t drink and drive’ I can say look this is what happened to me because of drunk driving,”Veenstra said.
There is also a twitter page that is dedicated to reminding students and other people of the community to not drink and drive.
”Your not a punk, so don’t drive drunk,” Veenstra said.
