The Pride of Durant hosted a band day at Walmart on Saturday, Mar. 4. The pride’s jazz bands performed for customers at Walmart, and also the band had a bake sale to help raise funds for the band.
Jazz I and Jazz II were the only Jazz groups to perform. Both groups performed all of their pieces they have prepared along the year.
The bake sale was how the band made money. Many pride members made baked goods to sell to the public. Also, many pride members stood outside the main doors with buckets to take donations.
The pride was very grateful for Daurah Amos, employed at Caked Up, for donating cupcakes for the pride to sell that the bake sell.
In all, the band raised $1,900 in one day, which was split evenly among the band students. Each student received $11 to be put in there band account to help with band expenses.
The band will have another band day at Walmart on Saturday, Apr. 1, and the entire band will be performing
