You can always sense that the end of the school year is coming when spring break rolls around.
The break officially starts on Mar. 13, 2017. The week off from school is much needed due to all of the end of the year stress. It is common that students spend their spring break traveling and doing various activities that they enjoy.
Many students said that they were just working on their spring break. “My uncle owns a plumbing company in Pottsboro, Texas, and I will just be working for him over the break,” senior Christian Bruce said.
Jennifer Terron is spending her break working at Ceviche as a waitress. She says that she is working to save money for college.
“I’m spending the whole break working at Caked Up,” senior Daurah Amos said.
Some students who aren’t working are traveling. One of these students is Courtlan Howell. She, however, is not going on vacation. She is spending her break going on a mission trip. The church she attends has been going to Mexico for the past 22 years and this will be her second year attending. They visit cities like Monterrey and spend their time going to orphanages, donating clothes, and doing bible studies for the children.
“It’s crazy how much you can learn about someone even when you don’t speak the same language,” Howell said.
Spring break is always much-appreciated whether you spend it sitting at home watching Netflix or traveling the world. It is important that students have this time off to destress and catch up on some much needed rest.
