The Durant Lions baseball team is looking to make one final run as the head into the regional tournament May 4-6. The Lions are looking to wrap up their best season since the team that reached the state semifinals in 2012.
They are lead by a strong senior squad that have played with each other since they were in little league. The Lions also have a great group of players in the Sophomore and Junior classes with powerhouse pitchers Brady Nichols and Connor Roberts.
The Lions head up to Tahlequah to play Bishop McGuinness in the first round of regionals on May 4. The Irish have record of 8-25 which put them as a three seed in the regional. The Lions on the other hand have a record of 20-13 which places them as the No. 2 seed.
The other teams in the tournament include the one seed Collinsville with a record of 22-9 and the fourth seed Tahlequah with a record of 11-13. They will face off in the first game on Thursday followed by the Durant and Bishop McGuinness. The winners of each game will then play followed by the losers of the first games.
