Students throughout the Durant Independent School District attended the Saw you at the Pole rally on Wednesday. More than 1,000 people took part in the event.
The annual event is held at Bloomer Sullivan Arena on the worldwide day of prayer. This years speaker was Charlie Blount, Lead Pastor at FBC El Reno, and this year’s band was the Jared Wood band.
Many students and parents look forward to this event every year. Youth Pastor at FBC Durant, Garrett Scott, said he was excited to be there and the event was very successful.
“It was an incredible night of worship,” Scott said. “I’m so thankful for a community that humbly looks to God as our answer and hope for Durant.”
Every year students lives are changed by this event. Durant High School junior Morgann Usry said she looks forward to it and it truly helps with her walk with Christ.
“I always look forward to saw you at the pole every year because it’s neat to be able to worship with other churches around the community.” Usry said. “Also, the speakers are always phenomenal and I appreciate their input; they help me re-evaluate my walk and growth in God.”
This group of students will next come together for “United 18” this coming January.
