The annual Durant High School homecoming week celebrations will kick off Monday, Oct 2. Every fall Durant High hosts various events throughout the week of the homecoming football game for the students to participate in, in order to boost school spirit.
Students are given the opportunity to dress-up according to different themes that pertain to each week day. The scheduled themes are as followed.
Monday- Grill dad vs. Soccer mom
Tuesday- America vs. world
Wednesday- Mathlete vs. Athlete
Thursday- Extraterrestrials vs. Cowboys
Friday- RED OUT
Each day there will also be activities relating to homecoming. Monday during all high school lunches students can cast their votes for the Homecoming Queen candidates.
Tuesday at 7 p.m., the top five queen candidates will be announced at the homecoming review. The review also gives people a chance to get to know the candidates.
During all lunches on Thursday there will be another chance to vote, but this time students will choose from the top five candidates. Thursday will also be the annual homecoming parade. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street. Immediately following the parade will be the pep-rally bonfire at the high school for Durant High students.
Friday night will be the big homecoming football game starting at 7:30 p.m., proceeding homecoming court at 7 p.m. Homecoming court is the time in which candidates are introduced and the official queen is announced. The football team is playing against the East Central Cardinals.
Saturday night will be the conclusion of homecoming week, with the homecoming dance. The dance is casual attire and attendees are encouraged to wear sports jerseys. The dance will kick off at 8 p.m. Make sure to participate in all the homecoming fun!!!
