The Durant Cross-Country team raced at Denison High School last Saturday. This was the last meet that junior varsity and varsity ran together in and they ran together.
The first-place finisher for the boys 5K was Eric Peacoock with a time of 16:20. The first-place finisher on Durant’s team was Dawson Reed, who placed 17th with a time of 18:22. Next finisher on the team was Dakota Wallace, who placed 37th with a time of 18:58. And the third finisher on the team was J.D. Youngblood, who placed 38th with a time of 18:59.
For the girls 5K, Kylee Reed from Durant placed second overall and first on the team ran a time of 20:55. Jacy Springer placed second on the team and fifth overall with a time of 21:06. And Regan Ramos placed third on the team and 14th overall with a time of 22:06.
The course was extremely hilly.
“Them hills man, them hills,” said Jesse Barker, who finished fourth on the team and 60th overall.
The course had some sharp turns too. It wasn’t cool, but wasn’t too hot either. It was a good day for racing on a hard course together as a team. This was a good meet to race at for the last meet with junior varsity and varsity together.
