The Durant High School and Middle School choirs attended All-district auditions on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The SEOCDA (Southeastern Oklahoma Choral Directors Association) held the auditions at First Baptist Church in Durant.
There were more than 600 students from southeastern Oklahoma that auditioned.
Deborah Clements, the choir director, talked about the students who participated in the auditions.
“Auditions are for self-motivated and dedicated students,” Clements said. “I am very pleased and proud that 99% of the students who auditioned from Durant High School made the SEOCDA Choir. The students spent many hours preparing the music for the audition.”
The following students who made the High School choir (10-12 grade) include: Canaan Boman, Lauren Collins, Hanna Cook, Trista Davidson, Paige Farley, Luke Hearon, C. J. Hicks, Haylie Kreitz, Tyler McLain, Braden Raines and Olivia Wilson.
The following High School students who made the Junior School choir (7-9 grade) include: Chloe Cagle, Emily Farr and Georgia Jones.
Emily Farr, ninth grade, talked about her time at the audition.
“The all-district auditions were a great experience,” Farr said. “I had a good time helping with registration, concessions, and getting to talk with students from other schools after the auditions.”
The students who made the choir will participate in a one day all-district festival on Thursday, Nov. 2.
