The Lady Lions softball team has had a really good start to the season this year.
They beat McAlester 12-0 Tuesday and they are currently 9-3.
“Sydney Hampton has came a long way since freshman year and she keeps them in games,” head coach Aaron Mullens said. “We are all really proud her accomplishments.”
The team just had a big tournament in Southmoore last weekend. Hampton pitched all three games played and only gave up three runs.
Destinee Lewis, who most people know as Dee, is known for hitting home runs, so far she has only hit one.
“They quit pitching to her,” Mullens said.
He also expressed that they might start walking home run hitter Haley Morgan as well.
There is a very high chance that the Durant High School softball team will be going to state this year once again. They will playing in the Shawnee tournament this weekend the first game will be against Noble.
The next home softball game will be Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. Join us in cheering on the Durant Lady Lions softball team.
