The Durant Lady Lions Softball is right in the middle of the season. They are playing three to four games a week, practice two days a week, and weight training one day each week.
The players are having a great year. At this point, the Varsity is 15-3 and they are hitting .400 as a team, which is really good in softball. The JV has been doing well also, recently going 2-2 in Tushka’s varsity tournament.
Assistant coach Cody Little talked about how he got into softball at Durant.
“Originally, I wanted to be a science teacher and a football coach when I graduated,” Little said. “When I got this job, the only position they had available was the assistant softball coach position. I took it not really knowing what I was getting myself into and I grew to love it. I love the team, the players, and the sport.”
The softball team is also doing a fundraising raffle. They are selling raffle tickets for $5 per ticket for a chance to win a Yeti/Durant Memorabilia Prize Package. The winner will be selected at the homecoming football game on Sept. 30 and does not have to be in attendance to win.
